As defined by Webster Dictionary ethics are â€Å"rules of behavior based on ideas about what is morally good and bad; an area of study that deals with ideas about what is good and bad behavior: a branch of philosophy dealing with what is morally right or wrong†. There is more to ethics than the simple definition. To understand ethics one must define what is ethical and unethical behavior in the workplace and it importance, prescriptive approaches, psychological approaches, whistle-blowers, and ethics as organizational culture. These factors help establish a strong foundation of security and positive ethic practices for an organization. The purpose of this analysis is to dissect the five factors (business ethics, prescriptive and psychological approach, whistle-blower, and ethics as organization) as it relates and supports each other. This analysis will also discuss the responsibilities that come following ethical procedures and the consequences for not abiding to these guidelines. Ultimately, individuals or groups’ decision are influenced by the nature of a company. Therefore, ethics are critical the success of an organization.
